Aung San Suu Kyi, also called Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, she is the center and symbol of the struggle for democracy in Burma. She is a Burmese opposition politician and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize.

Aung San Suu Kyi was born on 19 June 1945. Her father is Aung San who was assassinated when she was only two years old. She was educated Burma, India and United Kingdom. She was got the degree in philosophy, politics and economics from Oxford University. She began working with the United Nations Secretariat in New York, then worked as a research staff of the Bhutanese foreign ministry. While studying at Oxford University, she met Michael Aris who she married in 1972. They had two sons, Alexander and Kim.

She was the center and symbol of the struggle for democracy in Burma since 1988, after suppress of killing student and public that demand the democracy at the center of Yangon. After that, she has  begun to use the peaceful way to face with the soldier of government at the Irrawaddy River. The soldier try to shoot and stop her from campaign to provide free elections for the first time in thirty years after people came out for demand the democracy around the country. The result of election was her party is absolutely win and The Party of National Unity of the military is lose but the soldier didn’t agree in this election. So they try to coerce her to go out from the country but she rejected going out as proposal from the soldier’s government but she selected to be a symbol of the struggle for democracy  and for the accuracy in Burma. So she was held under house arrest for five years until July 1995.When released she faced restrictions on travel.After that she was held under house arrest again. She has spent more than 15 years in detention. She was released from her current third period of detention on Saturday 13th November 2010.

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s National League for Democracy party leader and opposition party in Myanmar, has been announced to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1991 by the Nobel Committee of the Norwegian nation, given in honor of her fighting in a peaceful way and for democracy and human rights in Burma. She had no chance to receive this prestigious award by herself.On December, Alexander and Kim, her two sons went to get award to their mom in Oslo, Norway. Aung San Suu Kyi has won many international awards , including the Nobel Peace Prize, the Sakharov Prize from the European Parliament and the United States Presidential Medal of Freedom.

The woman who can do anything for her country,who can sacrifice herself for her country, who can fight for democracy is the woman name Aung San Suu Kyi.
